Policy
AI policy
This policy covers AI tools such as chatbots and code assistants. You may use them to learn, but you must understand, test and be able to explain everything you submit.
Permitted use
- Using AI tools for research and learning, for example to understand a codebase, an error message or a concept.
Disclosure
- If an AI tool produced a meaningful part of the code in a pull request, state this in the pull request description: name the tool and what it was used for.
Your responsibility
- You must understand, test and be able to explain every line you submit.
- Mentors may ask you to explain any part of your work.
Not accepted
- Proposals written by AI. Your proposal must be your own writing and your own plan.
- Fabricated evidence. Invented test results, contributions, references or experience lead to rejection.
Review
Mentors review all work personally. Automated checks may run on pull requests, but a mentor makes every decision.
