About Elixpo

Elixpo is an open-source organisation that builds software in public. This page sets out its community and mentoring record, with a link to the public source for each step.

Elixpo and Google Summer of Code

Elixpo maintainers prepare work for outside contributors, review their pull requests and merge them. They have done so in public in two Hacktoberfests. Google Summer of Code extends that work to a full programme: one contributor, one project and two mentors who know the code.

Community and mentoring record

Each step links to the public source that supports it, and states the precision of its date. The record is maintained in Elixpo's public history file. Figures are counts of merged pull requests and contributing GitHub accounts in one repository.

  1. 26 December 2023

The earliest surviving Elixpo project record

    Date precision: exact day.

The OctaBit repository is the earliest surviving public project record now held by Elixpo. It documents college-era hardware work that predates the GitHub organisation.

    Evidence: OctaBit repository.

  2. 24 February 2024

The Elixpo GitHub organisation is created

    Date precision: exact day.

A shared organisation gives the projects a lasting public home. This is the start of the organisation record, separate from the earlier college projects that were later gathered under it.

    Evidence: Elixpo organisation.

  3. October 2024

    Our first recorded Hacktoberfest

    Date precision: month only.

Elixpo maintainers open the Chapter repository to Hacktoberfest work, apply the programme labels, review submissions and record accepted changes. Three Hacktoberfest-labelled pull requests are merged during the month. The record shows maintainer-led participation, not an official role within the Hacktoberfest programme itself.

Evidence: 2024 Hacktoberfest pull requests, accepted pull request 30.

  4. October 2025

    A second, much larger Hacktoberfest

    Date precision: month only.

The Chapter repository merges 47 Hacktoberfest-labelled pull requests from 24 GitHub accounts during October. Maintainers run the programme in the repository: they prepare work, review submissions, apply acceptance labels and merge eligible changes.

Evidence: 2025 Hacktoberfest pull requests, accepted contribution example.

  5. February–June 2026

Public services enter the organisation record

Date precision: a range of months.

Repositories for LixBlogs, LixSketch, member portfolios, Accounts, Lixrl, Oreo, Payouts, mail, administration and service status are added to the organisation. Their creation dates show when they entered this record, not necessarily when each project first began.

Evidence: Elixpo repositories, current service directory.

  6. 2026

Community support becomes a documented in-kind programme

    Date precision: year only.

Elixpo formalises event partnerships for stickers, artwork, social credit and short project introductions, and publishes the terms openly. The programme is non-monetary: Elixpo does not currently ask for, accept, hold or pass on organisation-level sponsorship money.

    Evidence: community partnership programme.
